Liebster Awarded!

Hola Everyone! Happy weekend!

I'm on to my second post today. I'm trying to catch up on a few things.

Today I wanted to talk about being chosen for Liebster award. Cazzy Durcan nominated my blog to get an Liebster award; normally this is given to bloggers that have less than 200 followers and want to get the word out of their blog. It's like a chain, Cazzy picked 11 bloggers including myself to spread the love and word! Sorry Cazzy that it took me forever!! :)

11 facts about me....

1) My real name is Zachar but family and friends call me Zachy (like Versace)
2) I'm 31, single, no kids, and never been married
3) I love scrapbooking apart from poshaholic that I am. lol
4) I started getting into nail polish no more than 6 months ago and now I have 90 polished. Eek!
5) I love fast cars, adrenaline junkie, love roller coasters, Jet skies and anything fast. lol
6) I'm Cuban American and I speak, write, and read Spanish and English even though I've never gone to school for Spanish.
7) I love dancing! It's in my blood and anything that has a beat makes me move. :D
8) I have a Computer Associates degree, Accounting Associates, and almost done with my Management and Accounting Bachelors degree. 
9) I have read probably over 1000 books. I'm a super avid reader! 
10) I can't stand to watch any scary movie, I'm a scary cat!!! 
11) I love cats and only have one boy. I would be a cat lady but too much cleaning! lol

2) If you created a polish, what would it be like? Creme color bases & Jelly bases
3) What's the most difficult nail art technique you have tried? Designing w/ a regular polish brush...straight lines and curves to get a different look. lol 
4) What's your biggest lemming (the polish you most want but don't have)? Zoya's polishes!
5) What do you prefer to post/read about? Swatches, or nail art? I love both. Very informative!
6) What is your best polish bargain? Spoiled by Wet n' Wild 2 for $3! Orly 2 for $11 plus a free top coat by Orly. Good bargain. :)
7) How important is neat polish/cuticle cleanup to you? Super important, I'm still working on perfecting it!
8) What are you wearing on your nails right now? China Glaze VIII and China Glaze Spontaneous, and base color OPI Do you want to dance?

9) What is you favourite nail shape? Square
10) What do you think the next polish trend will be? I was hearing it was Abstract work. Pretty cool in a way.
11) If you were in complete isolation, like on a desert island, would you still paint your nails? Yes, but I would have to have my iPad as well to read. lol

Review: Contrary Polish Spring Collection Love Lyrics

Hi Nail Enthusiastics! hehe. I'm a bit late with the review on Contrary Polish Spring Collection: Love Lyrics since I'm doing the Laid-Back 31DC challenge and getting prepared at work to get audited, plus I'm in the middle of tax season and I'm going a bit crazy! :)

I bought three mini bottles of Better Together, Feels Like Home, and Ain't No Sunshine. I wish I would have gone for the bigger bottles! The colors are amazing! Below I started with Better Together and the color is deep and easy to apply. I used a base clear coat, two color coats and a top coat of Seche Vite.

I was trying to capture the glitter that goes with the polish. I'm not great at capturing the glitter well. :(

Below you can see that I did Feels Like Home as the second swatch last night. I really really LOVE this color. I love the pink glitter that comes with the purple base.

Orginally I had first started with Ain't No Sunshine but it was extremely light and wasn't working. So I decided to try after the other two colors. Below is my second attempt and I succeeded in getting it right! This polish needs to be applied thicker and I had to do three thick coats. You can't tell but it worked out well. I believe the small bottles and brush didn't help.

The color is a gray/ blue, the glitter is silver and very faint blue. It's amazing!

I will buy big bottles from now on because the price ($5) is too steep for these small bottles (.17oz). It's a bit uncomfortable to use the brush, and the brushes were a bit bent making it harder to use. 

I will definitely buy Contrary Polish again. Carrie was an amazing person to deal with, great attitude, awesome customer service, and a genius!

Day 4 - Laid-Back 31DC - Pink

Hey everyone!! How's everything going? I'm doing fairly well too. :)
Here is my take on the Day 4 Pink chanllenge. I wanted to do something delicate and simple; sometimes simple is better. Plus, it took no time to do. lol

Base coat was OPI Nail Envy Nail Strengthner
Two coats of Orly Diva Bride
Two coats of GlitterDaze Aphrodites
Top coat was two coats of Seche Vite

The three pictures below show the beautiful color or Orly Diva Bride. This is one of my favorite light pinks. Not too light and not too dark. The color goes on very well and easy to apply.

 

Below I added GlitterDaze Aphrodites to make it a bit for festive for Valentine's! I love LOVE the glitter. It's light purple, light pink, hot pink, red, and light pink hearts. The base is clear. I was debating between this glitter and another that GlitterDaze has named It's Barbie, Biatch. lol. 

 

How did it turn out? Too simple?

Day 3 - Laid-Back 31DC - Gold

Hi Everyone!!! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend as much as I have. Many have been hit with the Winter Nemo storm up north and I hope everyone is staying safe and indoors. I've never lived where snow falls, but I've always wanted to live with the four seasons to at least say I tried it. I live in Miami, FL and the weather is mostly beach weather. It's super beautiful and the amazing culture difference that it offers. Talking about weather..I went to the beach to catch some rays. It was very windy but the water was crystal clear. I had a great time! :)    Subject change....

Now to nail polish and nail art....lol.

I had a Groupon coupon for quite some time and I went to use it yesterday. I got the gold done at a salon. The problem with that was that the lady bled into my cuticles. I kept the polish on and just added the China Glaze Red Satin with regular tape. The end result was not the neatest. After this adventure...I went online today and bought the nail stripping tape. lol. The V-gap design is very beautiful and delicate.

I used Orly Luxe as a color base, then taped my nails and added 3 coats of China Glaze Red Satin.

What do you think of the end result? Would you try this without stripping tape? lol.

Day 2 - Laid-Back DC21 - Silver

Hi Girls! I hope you are enjoying our Laid-Back DC31 Challenge with Crumpet's Nail Tarts Facebook website; which is a group interested in nail art and anything to do with polish! This is my second attempt at the Day 2 Silver challenge. Below you will see some pictures of my first attempt...not very appealing. lol! I should have done it with tape but I didn't think it would come out this horrible. hehe.

On my second attempt at Day 2, I changed my tactic and tried something different and new to me. Gradient!! Let me know what you think below.

The colors I used were:
O.P.I. Nail Envy Strengthener - base coat and top coat
China Glaze - Pelican Gray - base color
Spoiled - Shaken Snow Globe
Spoiled - Daddy's Credit Card
Spoiled - Black Mamba
Make-up sponge to apply all three colors to the nail
Q-Tips to remove the mess! ;)

How do you like the end result? Would you try this?

Day 1 - Lazy 31DC - Black & White

Hi there! Here is my first post on the challenge: Lazy 31DC - Black & White. I'm a little proud of myself since this is the first time trying the dots with the dotting tools. I believe the dots come out pretty good. It's pretty easy once you have the different dot sizes on the tools. I had tried originally a couple of days prior with a tiny dotting tool and I couldn't figure out why the art came out so horrible. The reason was because it was tiny! I needed a bigger dotting tool. :)

I used China Glaze Liquid Leather, China Glaze White on White, and Spoiled Black Mamba.

These two first pictures are with only the CG Black Leather and CG White on White.

After I let the white dots dry, I then applied smaller dots with Spoiled Black Mamba.

 

Waited a couple of more minutes before applying the CG White on White again with a smaller dotting tool. It's not super perfect but I feel great with them! Woot Woot! Next challenge is Silver color on the 5th of Feb.
